Saudi Aramco Base Oil Co. (Luberef) was established in 1976 and is one of the world's leading suppliers of high-quality base oils. It holds the distinction of being the only virgin base oil producer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Luberef produces various Group I and Group II Base Oils derived from straight-run residue Arab Light crude oil. These consistently high-quality base oils cater to critical industries worldwide, including automotive, marine, and manufacturing. Luberef is a proud member of the Aramco Base Oil Alliance, alongside two other entities. Together, they produced 1 in every 8 barrels of base oil globally in 2021. Luberef operates two facilities with an impressive annual production capacity of 1.3 million metric tonnes. In addition to base oils, Luberef produces various by-products, including naphtha, diesel, asphalt, sulfur, and Marine Heavy Fuel Oil (MHFO). Their asphalt directly contributes to the Kingdom's infrastructure development. Luberef's strategic initiative, LubeHUB Lubricants Value Park, aims to attract investors to build manufacturing facilities close to their Yanbu Facility. It aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by promoting localization, 'Made in Saudi' products, and increased employment. Luberef also adheres to the highest ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
