Activities

The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, commonly known as Bahri, is a significant player in the global shipping industry. Bahri was created by a Royal Decree No. (M/5) dated 12/02/1398H (22/01/1978G) of Saudi Arabia, as a public company.

Since its inception, Bahri has been committed to excellence in shipping and logistics. The company operates across five business units, making it a diversified conglomerate in the maritime sector. Bahri is the world leader in transporting crude oil and oil products. They own and operate Very Large Crude-oil Carriers (VLCCs), which are massive vessels designed specifically for transporting large quantities of crude oil. Bahri is also the largest owner and operator of chemical carriers in the Middle East.

These specialized vessels transport various chemicals and liquid bulk cargo. Bahri operates dry bulk carriers under the Saudi Arabian flag in a joint venture with ARASCO. These vessels transport commodities like grains, minerals, and other dry goods. Bahri provides ship management services, ensuring the reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of their fleet. As a strategic partner of Saudi Arabia's Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Bahri is involved in designing, building, and operating critical desalination infrastructure.

This innovative effort contributes to the Kingdom's water security. Bahri aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, a national transformation plan aimed at diversifying the Saudi economy and reducing its dependence on oil. The company plays a crucial role in transforming the Kingdom into a key strategic regional hub and logistics gateway across three continents. Bahri boasts an impressive fleet of at least 89 vessels, including VLCCs, chemical tankers, and dry bulk carriers. Their vessels crisscross the world's oceans, connecting markets and facilitating global trade.

In summary, Bahri is not only the national shipping carrier of Saudi Arabia but also a global force in maritime logistics. Their commitment to excellence, alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, and innovative initiatives make them a vital player in shaping the future of shipping and trade.
