Barka Desalination Company (BDC) is the owner of the Barka Independent Water Project (IWP), which operates the largest seawater desalination plant in Oman. The plant is located in Barka, in the South Batinah Governorate of the Sultanate of Oman. BDC's mission is to provide reliable and quality potable water to communities through cost-effective and efficient reverse osmosis technology, while maintaining the highest health, safety, and environmental standards. With a committed and passionate local talent, industry-leading technology, robust shareholders, and an experienced management team, BDC ensures sustainable and continuous access to drinking water for the people of Oman. The Barka Independent Water Project has a capacity of approximately 281,000 cubic meters per day (equivalent to 61.8 million gallons), which caters to approximately 23% of the water demand in the Sultanate of Oman. The plant supplies potable water to nearly one-third of Muscat's inhabitants, serving approximately 500,000 people every day. BDC aims to be the leader in providing sustainable potable water solutions in an eco-friendly and efficient manner, enhancing the quality of life and supporting the development of Oman.
