Leading Kuwaiti group Metal and Recycling Company (MRC) said it has signed a plastic waste management agreement with Equate Petrochemical Company (Equate), under which it will manage and recycle the plastic waste generated by Equate's industrial operations.

This comes as part of both parties' commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and resource efficiency in Kuwait's industrial sector.

The agreement includes the provision of 20 dedicated containers for collecting this waste within Equate's facilities, which will be transported periodically to MRC's facilities for sorting, processing, and recycling according to the highest environmental standards.

A major player in Kuwait, MRC is a specialist in waste management and recycling, metal scrap processing, plastic recycling and conversion, iron and metal manufacturing and shaping, hazardous waste management, as well as facilities management that caters to key sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial, and commercial sectors.

MRC is currently developing the Mina Abdullah Eco-Industrial Park to support sustainable industrial infrastructure and logistics services in Kuwait in line with its New 2035 vision, through partnerships with government entities, research centers, and academic institutions.

The company leads Kuwait's plastic recycling sector by supplying a wide range of plastic raw materials to numerous plastic converters locally and internationally.

It also works closely with customers to understand and meet their specific needs and takes pride in offering a broad range of premium-, medium-, and low-grade industrial raw materials made from virgin and recycled plastic pellets.

On the agreement, Vice Chairman and CEO Tarek Ibrahim Al Mousa said: "Industrial sustainability is at the core of MRC's business, as we work to enable our customers and partners to balance operational activity with environmental impact and social responsibility - whether through the waste management and recycling solutions we provide, or by harnessing our advanced facilities to support environmental and industrial initiatives. Today, we are pleased to partner with Equate, supporting its efforts to manage and recycle the plastic waste generated by its industrial operations."

"MRC collaborates with a number of petrochemical plants in processing and preparing mixed-grade scrap and plastic, leveraging extensive transport capabilities and specialized plastic-scrap washing machinery to ensure the highest levels of quality and value in the products it supplies," he added.
