National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt (NBK Egypt) reported a net profit of EGP 4.2 billion (equivalent to KD 26.1 million) for the first half of 2026. Net operating income increased to EGP 8.6 billion in H1 2026, compared to EGP 7.7 billion in the corresponding period of 2025, reflecting growth of 11 percent year-on-year. Net interest income rose by 7.4 percent to EGP 7.2 billion, compared to EGP 6.7 billion in H1 2025, while net operating income, excluding interest, increased by 32 percent to EGP 1.31 billion, up from EGP 0.99 billion in the same period of 2025. Income from financial investments also increased significantly, reaching EGP 56 million in H1 2026, compared to EGP 27 million in the corresponding period of 2025, representing growth of 111 percent. Meanwhile, the cost-to-net operating income ratio stood at 27 percent during the first half of 2026. Total assets grew to EGP 270 billion at the end of H1 2026, compared to approximately EGP 225 billion at year-end 2025, representing growth of 20 percent. Net loans and credit facilities to banks and customers increased to approximately EGP 147 billion, up around 22 percent from EGP 121 billion at the end of 2025.Customer deposits rose to EGP 206 billion at the end of H1 2026, compared to EGP 180 billion at year-end 2025, reflecting growth of 14 percent. The ratio of Net Fees and Commissions to Net Operating Income increased to 11.6 percent, compared to 10.2 percent in the corresponding period of 2025.Return on Average Assets (ROAA) stood at 3.4 percent in H1 2026, while Return on Average Equity (ROAE) reached 26.9 percent. Commenting on the financial results, Shaikha Al-Bahar, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, National Bank of Kuwait, and Chairman of NBKE gypt, said: "NBK Egypt delivered strong operating performance in the first half of 2026, reflecting the strength of our financial position and the resilience of our business model, which continues to generate solid earnings and sustainable growth despite a challenging macroeconomic environment." Al-Bahar emphasized that, amid an increasingly challenging global economic landscape, the Bank continues to perform well, supported by balanced growth across its key business segments and a flexible operating strategy. She noted that the continued expansion of the Bank's balance sheet and improvement across most financial indicators underscore the success of its business diversification strategy and accelerated digital transformation, aimed at increasing its market share, particularly in retail banking, within the region's largest market by population. Al-Bahar added that, in line with the Group's commitment to digital transformation, NBK Egypt continued to deliver an advanced digital banking experience supported by innovative solutions that meet evolving customer expectations and keep pace with changing market dynamics. "We are focused on enhancing the quality of our services, expanding our geographic footprint, and reaching a broader range of customer segments, supported by the significant progress the Bank has made in modernizing its IT infrastructure and digital channels. These developments have advanced considerably and strengthened NBK Egypt's competitive position in the Egyptian market," Al-Bahar added. She also noted: "Egypt represents a key growth market for the Group and a strategic long-term investment. The growth we continue to achieve reinforces the Group's foresight in pursuing this investment, which we aim to further expand amid rising demand for banking services and increasing levels of financial inclusion." Meanwhile, Yasser El-Tayeb, Vice Chairman, CEO and Managing Director of National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt, said: "The Bank's strong financial figures and indicators clearly demonstrate its ability to sustain growth and deliver solid business results during the first half of 2026, despite the operational challenges weighing on the business environment both locally and globally." El-Tayeb noted that NBK Egypt's growth remains well balanced across all business activities, while maintaining efficiency levels and risk metrics that support both growth and long-term business sustainability. This reflects the Bank's prudent strategy and disciplined business model, which enables it to respond flexibly to evolving customer needs. El-Tayeb added that NBK Egypt's income streams are predominantly driven by credit activities through the corporate banking segment, alongside the increasingly significant contribution of retail banking, particularly in recent years. The Bank's credit portfolio is highly diversified, encompassing large corporates as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, while its retail portfolio spans a broad range of customer segments. This diversification reflects the strength and resilience of the Bank's income structure. He emphasized that the Bank is focused on further strengthening its position in the retail banking segment over the coming period by introducing advanced products and services tailored to the needs of different customer segments and reinforcing its position as a comprehensive banking provider capable of meeting their diverse financial requirements. The Bank also seeks to expand its Islamic banking services to meet the needs of a broad customer base, while continuously enhancing the products offered in this segment. NBK Egypt is among the leading banks in the Egyptian market offering both Islamic and conventional banking products and services. El-Tayeb further noted that, recognizing the pivotal role of technology and digital applications in advancing the banking sector and their importance in strengthening banks' competitiveness and enhancing the quality of services delivered to customers, NBK Egypt has accelerated the expansion of its digital banking services and made significant investments in this area. These efforts are aimed at delivering a differentiated banking experience that enables customers to complete most of their banking transactions anytime and anywhere. The Bank also continues to encourage broader adoption of electronic channels and payment methods, in line with the strategic direction of the state and the Central Bank of Egypt. The recent launch of the latest update to the Bank's mobile banking application represents an important step in this direction and reflects its continued commitment to providing advanced digital solutions that meet customer expectations and evolving banking needs. Moreover, El-Tayeb emphasized that NBK Egypt remains firmly committed to supporting the global transition toward sustainable finance and a green economy, while backing environmentally friendly projects that promote sustainability and make greater use of renewable energy. The Bank also continues to explore available solutions to mitigate the adverse impact of climate change and reduce carbon emissions, recognizing sustainable finance as one of the key tools for supporting and preserving long-term financial stability.
